Overview

The Small Business Administration's FY2027 budget request is about $0.3 billion, a 67% drop from the $1 billion enacted in FY2026. Nearly all the cuts come from eliminating Entrepreneurial Development programs, which fund Women's Business Centers, SCORE mentoring chapters, and Veterans Business Outreach Centers that help entrepreneurs start and grow companies. A separate 40% cut to Salaries and Expenses would shrink the staff who run SBA loan programs and disaster assistance. Together, these cuts would mainly affect small business owners, veterans, women entrepreneurs, and volunteer mentors who rely on SBA support and guidance.
