Overview

NASA's proposed FY2027 budget is $18.8 billion, about 23% less than the year before. The biggest cut hits NASA Science, which would lose nearly half its funding, ending missions like Chandra, Fermi, and the Mars Sample Return project. Space Technology and the International Space Station would also see major reductions, affecting propulsion research, commercial space partners, and ISS crew and international cooperation. STEM Engagement programs would be eliminated entirely, ending support for students and researchers across all 50 states, including minority university programs.
